The first Fast Radio Burst was detected in 2001 with at least twenty other bursts being reported since then. The Fast Radio Bursts (FRB), as they have been dubbed, only last milliseconds and until recently were thought to be completely random making them very difficult to detect and study.
On October 21st, 1978 Frederick Valentich was piloting his Cessna 182 over the Bass Strait in Australia when he contacted air traffic control stating that he was being harassed by an aircraft 1,000 feet above him. He stated the craft looked unusual and that it was able to make abrupt changes in direction as well as hover with ease. At 7:12 pm, after several minutes of this harassment, all contact was lost with Valentich.
In 1974 Carl Sagan sent a message into space in the form of radio waves beamed into space. It was the most powerful broadcast ever deliberately beamed into space and was directed at a star cluster nearly 25,000 light years away. The message consisted of a picture depicting our planets location in our solar system, our mathematical system, a simple shape of our body, an example of our DNA double helix structure, and a crude drawing of how we broadcast the message.
A few weeks ago I was in a discussion with a friend who tried to use the SOS from another galaxy as a means of defending E.T. civilizations and their stance that they must be out there. While I agree they are out there, I wanted to investigate the SOS signal more to see if the SOS from another galaxy is legitimate and should be used as an argument to support a stance. So what is the SOS from another galaxy?
On September 16th, 1994 sixty-two children, age 5 to 12 years old, of Ariel school in Zimbabwe had an encounter with an alien and UFO craft that to this day remains unexplained.
In 2016 Ermanno Borra and Eric Trottier, astronomers from the Laval University in Canada, announced that they had found 234 extra-terrestrial civilizations and that they might be “beaming” a coordinated light signal towards earth. Regardless of your thoughts on the topic, these are bold claims by the two, which is exactly why I like it.
Crop circles have been around much longer than most people realize. While the term Crop Circle did not exist until the 1980’s the phenomenon has existed since the 1600’s. In 1678 there was a news pamphlet called “The Mowing-Devil” that had descriptions of crop circles. Some dispute this being a true crop circle though as the description states the crop was cut rather than folded neatly like we have come to expect today.
Back in 1977 Astronomer Jerry Ehman was using the Ohio State University’s Big Ear Radio Telescope sweeping for potential signals from alien civilizations. While monitoring the skies he came across a very powerful signal that lasted for exactly 72 seconds coming from the area of Chi Sagittarii. Dubbed the WOW signal because he circled the numbers and letters on a printed readout and wrote Wow! next to it.
